Description:
Zombies are a type of magically- or alchemically-created undead.  They are created from the remains of once-living creatures, and are defined by two primary aspects: their mindlessness and their relatively complete, flesh-covered bodies.  Unless special precautions are taken, their animation does not prevent the decay and dessication of their bodies.  This tends to limit the usefulness of zombies over time, as freshly-dead bodies will have a full range of movement available to them, but as decay sets in, their movements will quickly become slow and shambling, before the body finally just falls apart.  They will blindly follow the orders of their creator, but when left to their own devices, will be overcome by primal drives, wandering around and violently attacking living creatures.

Tactics:
Unless they were recently-dead or well-preserved, zombies are generally very slow, and lack the manual dexterity to use most tools.  Swift, mobile strategies are suggested for their elimination.  Decently rotten zombies have trouble dealing with stairs, so gaining the high ground can allow them to be dealt with with ease.  While their dessicated corpses are flammable, zombies cannot feel pain, and it actually takes time for them to burn away completely, so caution should be used: a zombie can be dangerous, but a flaming zombie is significantly more dangerous.  Sufficient physical trauma can halt their function, but even once their limbs have been removed, or they've been cut in half, they can still move and attack.  Destruction or removal of the head is the most efficient way to put them down for good.

Abilities:
Zombies do not experience fear or pain, so it can take quite a bit to actually put them down.  Additionally, they are surprisingly strong.  Their physical power should not be underestimated.  They have a tendency to swarm, and are much more dangerous in groups than individually.  Aside from the obvious physical threats, zombies are disease carriers, so care should be made to prevent infection from injuries.  Sometimes they are used as biological weapons, specifically infected with particular contagious strains.  This is most common in alchemically-created zombies, as they can spread the agent responsible for their reanimation, resulting in a self-sustaining army of undead.

The obligatory fleshy undead, presented with basically no twists at all.  Look, they can't all be lightning-shooting raptors or fear-feeding monstrosities.

The canon status of anything I write for these is superseded by anything :iconheartgear: provides.
